Winter Greens and Tees: Limitations with Shot Scope Devices
Due to the temporary and often sporadic placement of winter greens and tees, Shot Scope devices are not compatible with these features. We map courses using satellite imagery, and unfortunately, this doesn’t allow us to see where course greenkeepers have placed temporary greens and tees. Additionally, many winter greens are located on fairways, which can cause issues with shot location and lie types when uploading your round.
Furthermore, because winter greens and tees frequently change locations—often swapping with the full greens—it would require significant daily manual updates to keep the course mapping accurate, which we currently don't have the capability to manage on a global scale.
If your course only makes a minor change to one or two holes (i.e., replacing temporary greens and tees with permanent ones for the winter), we may be able to map these for you. However, for us to consider this, the changes would need to remain consistent for an extended period. If you think your course meets this criterion, please email us at support@shotscope.com, and we will do our best to assist you.
For winter golf, any of our laser devices will still work by providing accurate yardages to the new pin positions.
